Abby Williams

November 9, 1982 - May 9, 2000

I added a forum for people to share their experiences with Abby or anything they would like to share.

This page is for Abby, I met her last year at the Cornerstone Festival. You can read about my time with her on my Cornerstone Journal page and you can see pictures of the time Whitney and I spent with Abby on my Cornerstone Pictures page. Whitney and I attended her funeral in Michigan on Saturday May 13, 2000. When I first found out that Abby died I was shocked, surprised and saddened. We soon found out that she died of an asthma attack. In my own naive little world I didn't really realize that people do die of asthma. The funeral was more of a celebration of her short life. This was written about Abby in her obituary and the handout at her funeral:

Abby "Abigator" "Abs" Williams

Abby was a beautiful and passionate young woman whose deepest desire was to always keep her heart and her eyes focused on Christ. She was a part of the fellowship of Bella Vista Church where she sang in the Praise Band and performed with a flair with the Improv Team. A favorite verse she kept in her faith journal was 1 Peter 5:17, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." Abby's name means "a father's joy", and she brought so much joy to her family and friends. She filled her life with many passionate pursuits. A brilliant student, her career goal was to be a forensic pathologist. She was an incredibly gifted young woman who loved the arts. She thrived on theater and dance, loved music and had a true artistic gift that she expressed in many forms: drawing, painting, sculpting, and pottery. Abby was a dynamic swing dancer who did everything in her life with a drive to excel. She loved her family, she loved her friends, and she loved her God.

Abby's life taught me to stand up for what you believe in and to keep striving for excellence. A few of Abby's friends from her Youth Group (the boys we met at Cornerstone) have bands. Branded Truth and Agent 7 played at her funeral and Branded Truth are playing at Cornerstone too. Even though I only spent 5 days with Abby and various e-mails, she was such a sweet person and had an impact on my life. Abby often put blue streaks in her blond hair, and so as an act of remembrance at her funeral, many people wore blue in their hair and blue ribbons (her favourite colour). We'll all miss the absence of Abby, but know she's dancing in heaven.

Cya sometime in the future Abby.
